Director of Airport Energy Ltd.
I have been in the downstream oil industry for many years spending most of my career with Shell
I joined Shell-Mex and BP in 1965 and later at brand separation in 1973 joined Shell UK. I spent 28 very happy and rewarding years in a variety of jobs from depot assistant, telephone sales representative, to sales representative and area manager and finally regional manager.
I had spent most of my career in the commercial market but in 1993 I decided the time was right to move out of the mainstream industry and try my hand in an independent fuel distributor as sales and marketing manager.
As with most things in this industry nothing actually stays the same and in 1997 the company was taken over by Total and then merged with Fina and ELF so I decided the time was right to move on. (made redundant)
In 2000 with the help of two colleagues we formed a new company called
Airport Energy Ltd.
The idea was to specialize in the supply of cleaner fuels to the BAA airports. BAA at the time were starting to get very concerned about the emissions from the ground equipment at the airports in particular Heathrow. With the support of Greenergy, the company who first introduced City Diesel later to become ULSD, we started to supply a new product called ULS Gas Oil.
